The utter definition of pointlessness.

When are you gonna spotlight the Gundam franchise on the show? It seems like you’ve covered nearly all of the other heavy hitters of 80s and 90s anime except Gundam.
he has gotten some Gundam stuff donated by a fan (a very generous fan knowing how expensive the series can get these days), but he couldn’t before because of those prices that make ya say “screw you”
With Right Stuf re-releasing a lot of the Gundam catalog, Sage shouldn’t have too much trouble finding things in the near future.
is that a site? I want to look up the rereleases
Online anime retailer (and sometimes licensor). http://www.rightstufanime.com/ and here are some of their Gundam license releases: http://www.rightstufanime.com/category/Blu~ray?keywords=gundam
yeesh those prices kind of suck 0_0
Most of them are pretty reasonable, outside of the new stuff like The Origin (Bandai is greedy as fuck). But they’re probably too long (and some undubbed) for Sage to cover on the show. I’m guessing he’ll do one of the OVAs, like 0080, 0083, or 08th MS Team. Maybe the movie Gundam F91, since it sort of stands on its own. Right Stuf hasn’t gotten any of those yet, but I’m pretty sure Sage already has at least 08th MS Team. Just guesses, though.
i think i saw Char’s Counterattack so he could do that one
Eh, maybe. But at the very least you have to have seen the original series to watch it, not to mention the callbacks to stuff in Zeta and Double Zeta. CCA doesn’t stand on its own.
Presumably also being one of those shows that…well, you don’t just “talk” about Gundam.
The problem with Gundam is that, if he were to describe a single entry by itself, he’d have to describe the backstory, the people and politics that went into writing it, etc.
Honestly, it’d probably wind up being kinda like how Macross Plus went, which is partially plot summary and a lot of talking about its place in anime history. It’d have to be a whole month talking about UC alone… the first half of that timeline at least.
I’d like to see his take on Gundam IBO now that the dub is airing on Toonami. (I freaking love it but I can see why it’s had a bit of a mixed reaction.)
if no one has ever been crucified before, why did they do it? Why do they have a name for something that hasn’t been done?
I can’t read the coverart for the next anime, what is it?
I couldn’t read it either. Had to kind-of guess it on Google till I found the slip art. It’s not Sage’s fault though; some of the DVD art I’ve seen on AB use horrendous font choices.
oh yeah it’s no this fault at all. it’s that horrible font they used for the cover art. That is horrible lol least most crap anime have titles you can read lol
Took a little guessing but it looks like it says DE: Vadasy
yeah I found out recently, but thanks 🙂
Is the infantile, helium voice of that “jello mold” dark-elf girl suppose to be sexy? Because it doesn’t sound sexy; it’s actually really annoying and grating. You’d think that the default voice for that particular character design would be lower and more sultry, but this example proves otherwise.
For that character I think either Megan Hollingshead or Venus Terzo would be a better fit for that character.
Actually, Deadpool DID use comic text boxes of his thoughts as platforms to jump on in one section.
Sage my good man why don’t you review the predecessor to Gunsmtih Cats which is Riding Bean just for the a good interest mate.
will probably need a good refresher after next week’s anime
I hate to sound like a dbag but it has always seemed strange to me that Jrpgs have western monsters/creatures like orcs, elves and the like. I woudl love to play one with things I am less familiar with from their mythology, maybe Kappa or Tengu or something.
Don’t they usually have both?
I know Final Fantasy draws on a myriad of mythology.
well, when you think of it, those creatures are the more unusual, the more fantastic to that culture, which may be part of their appeal as much as the kappa and tengu are to us
iirc, a lot of JRPGS use the yokai extensively (tengu and kappa, for example are staples in SMT, FF* Chrono Trigger, has shades of influence on TWEWY, tengu pop up a fair bit in Etrigan Oddesy, some ii the more rpgey castlevanias, and especially breath of fire) etc, even if more as monsters of the week than big things
* FF’s monster origins comes from ADnD’s monster manual due to the company being in dire straits at the time, so its early cast is very western, but the variations came in soon after.
Yay for Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana, and so many hours spent on them.
Coincidentally, that’s how I first learned English. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one.
Voice actors Wendee Lee and Lex Lang also help to save this short show.
